Frost blanketing, INVERNAVELO, allows us to force crops and provides ideal protection for crops in places with adverse weather conditions. This thermal frost blanket, INVERNAVELO, is a “non-woven fabric” made from a polypropylene base. This material maintains a warmer temperature for the crops that are covered with it.This technique has been used for 30 years and from that time onward it has been employed very successfully on farms. This crop cover can be put directly over seedlings without any base structure or it can also be set up forming micro tunnels that create an ideal environment.A tunnel can be set up over each furrow individually or be put over several at a time. The use of these tunnels is also known as forcing crops.

What reason is there for using non-woven floating covers?
One reason for using thermal cloth or frost blanketing is that it gives seedlings better environmental conditions to establish themselves and, later, develop. This is due to the fact that thermal cloth is very thin and it allows water, air and light to pass through its ultra-permeable membranes without the cloth losing its resistance. These characteristics help the thermal fabric to maintain an optimum microclimate, providing the best growth conditions for cucumber, tomato, and pepper crops among others.

This thermal cloth can be installed over crops trellised with cucumber netting. It won’t interfere with irrigation systems and it is easy to handle.
